Project Description

I was involved in the initial pitching and sales phase of this project to help secure corporate sponsorship from ANZ for our client, the New Zealand Olympic Committee. We presented the experience of using a smartphone to post and read messages written in the stars of the night sky, to be sent to NZ athletes during the Olympic Games, and how ANZ would be key in making this possible.

Using Three.js I built the initial prototypes for the 3D functionality of the app to visualise messages in the sky by physically panning and tilting the user's smartphone. Initial iterations involved visualising real world star positions from the HYG Stellar database and re-arranging them to form messages in the sky. In later parts of the project this was adapted into the final art style and implementation to be used with the larger app which contained score and news information on the athletes performance during the Olympic Games.
